Featured Project with Vani Sayeed: A Royal Touch of Mewar in Boston

This reimagined 1920s brick Georgian-style home in Boston’s suburbs marries architectural elegance with a rich, globally inspired heritage. Building on a strong foundation, the team renovated and expanded several parts of the home. The main updates were a serene spa bath in an updated primary suite, and an extension to the formal living room by enclosing the existing covered porch, creating an all-season space with expansive windows that seamlessly blend indoor comfort with the outdoors. Throughout the home, curated art and family heirlooms ground the home in its storied legacy, creating a personal retreat that pays tribute to enduring cultural and artistic traditions.

Handmade Makrana Marble TIles

The updated spa bath features custom Makrana marble tiles crafted in Rajasthan (the home state of the clients), which are inlaid with intricate mirrors in a pattern that is inspired by the traditional mandala patterns of the state which are called ‘Mandana,’. The tile was crafted in Rajasthan and shipped to the USA, reminiscent of the artistic craft of the old country. Positioned behind the tub, this striking wall anchors the space, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern elegance.

Custom Millwork to Tie Everything Together

Crafting these curved door jambs was the perfect blend of creativity, process, and craftsmanship. Our millshop approached the task with meticulous care to achieve Vani’s vision, focusing on the negative space and layering materials to create the curves. At our in-house shop, they crafted and assembled the mouldings, using previously made door jambs as the foundation. Every component was pre-fitted before leaving the shop, ensuring a seamless, stress-free on-site installation.
